PreferredOne’s latest employee rewards program is all carrot and no stick

Minneapolis, Minn. October 1, 2018 - PreferredOne now offers self-funded employers in Minnesota, Choice Pays, a new health plan feature that rewards members with cash when they use providers in PreferredOne’s Connect Network.

High value provider networks are not new to the state. They are a demonstrated way to cut health care costs. However, many employers are reluctant to offer “narrow” networks that limit where their employees can access care. Choice Pays solves that dilemma by combining PreferredOne’s statewide open access network, which represents 99 percent of Minnesota‘s providers, with our Connect network which features doctors, clinics and hospitals recognized for being quality driven and cost efficient.

The high value Connect network is a subset of the PreferredOne open access statewide network. Connect includes premier care systems including Fairview Health Services (including HealthEast locations), North Memorial Health, Hennepin County Healthcare, University of Minnesota Hospital and University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital along with many other popular clinics throughout the metro area. These systems are efficient and effective, which means they achieve savings without compromising care.

Today’s employees are charged with making informed decisions and becoming smart health care consumers. That task can be challenging despite all the published cost and quality data. Instead of informed, some employees feel overwhelmed. With Choice Pays, we’ve done the research—Connect providers are less expensive and deliver quality care and outcomes. It’s easy for employees to choose high value providers and they are rewarded for doing so without any paperwork or hassles. And with checks mailed weekly, employees don’t have to wait long for their cash.

Choice Pays builds on PreferredOne’s reputation as providing new innovative products and services for employers and employees to better manage cost and outcomes. Previous products developed to help employers manage health care costs include PreferredOne Simplicity, a hybrid option that bridges the gap between fully insured and self-funded employer health plans. Other product introductions include several accountable care organizations (ACOs) as well as partnerships with Bind On Demand Health Insurance and Aetna Signature Administrator’s national network.

PreferredOne is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fairview Health Services. Our comprehensive local and national provider networks, high performing networks and cost and quality drivers help self-funded and fully insured employers maximize their investment in employee health benefits.
