PreferredOne coverage for COVID-19 testing

Golden Valley, Minn. March 10, 2020 - The health and well-being of Minnesotans is PreferredOne’s highest priority. We are committed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring PreferredOne members have access to the testing and care they need during this public health crisis.

In addition to regular member benefits, PreferredOne will cover medically necessary COVID-19 laboratory testing that is ordered by our network providers without member cost sharing for fully-insured employer group and individual plan members.

These tests will be available without the need for prior authorization. Members will not have any co-pay, co-insurance or deductible costs for testing.* PreferredOne will work with our self-insured employer group customers to consider the same flexibility regarding their benefits.

“Preventing the spread of illness remains the most important step people can take. Clean your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer, cover your cough and stay home if you are sick” says Dr. Abbie Miller, PreferredOne’s Chief Medical Officer. “If you are experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, consider a virtual care visit first such as OnCare or MDLive to decrease the chance of spread to others.”
